Simon Young - Lecturer
Simon worked for British Hypnosis Research where his fascination with people, expression and the close study of faces led him to portrait photography. Simon's unique and humorous teaching style incorporates ideas on how to relax clients and getting the best portrait possible. When once asked how he got the subjects to have such lovely soft faraway looks in their eyes he replied "I find boredom a wonderful technique".

Phil Malpas - Lecturer
Phil is no stranger to the Blackthorn Centre having spent three years teaching colour photography. His abiding love for photographing the less populated parts of the world and the wilder side of nature goes back to the mid-eighties when he first visited the English Lakes. Since then his work has been exhibited nationally, including significant exhibitions at Christies and The Mall Galleries in London. His work has been recognised by a number of awards including "Best Landscape" and "Print of the Year" at a recent event in Fueterventura. Phil currently leads photographic workshops around the world for Light and Land Photographic Holidays.
